Water/Moisture/Frost Inside Refrigerator
Issue
- Water/Moisture/Frost Inside Refrigerator
Applies to
- Refrigeration Top Mount
- Refrigeration Bottom Mount
- Refrigeration French Door
- Refrigeration Quad Door
- Refrigeration Vertical
Solution
The cooling appliances themselves cannot form moisture. Moisture always comes into the appliance through food or air humidity.
How to prevent/minimize condensation inside the fridge
- To reduce humidity and avoid the consequent formation of frost, always store liquids in sealed containers in the refrigerator.
- Never place warm food in the refrigerator. Warm food should be allowed to cool at room temperature and should be arranged to ensure adequate air circulation in the refrigerator compartment.
- Cover the food or wrap it appropriately.
- Always open the door as briefly as necessary.
- Check the door seal to see if it is compressed or deformed in one place.
- Ensure the seals are clean and not obstructed.
How to prevent/minimize condensation inside the crisper drawer
- If you wash fruit and vegetables before storing them, make sure they are dry or wrap in absorbent paper before storing in the refrigerator as this can make them susceptible to rotting.
- Keep vegetables in the crisper and away from the air vents to avoid freezing.
- Try to keep fruit and vegetables separated as fruits that give off high levels of ethylene (the ripening agent) can prematurely ripen and spoil surrounding vegetables.
- Adjust crisper humidity slides.
- Adjust temperature to a warmer setting
- It is normal for there to be some moisture and humidity in the crisper bin
