Does the robotic vacuum recognize obstacles (doorsteps/thresholds)?
Issue
- Does the robotic vacuum recognize obstacles (doorsteps/thresholds)?
Applies to
- Robot Vacuum
- PI91-5SGM
- PI92-6STN
- PI92-6SGMKIT
Solution
1. The robotic vacuum recognizes floor differences, e.g. stairs and thresholds.
It is able to calculate and decide where to move in a safe way.
Before manoeuvring over any obstacle or crossing a threshold, the robotic vacuum will stop and check:
- The heights of the obstacle/threshold.
- If the area on the other side is clear to operate.
Note: In some cases, such as non-symmetrical doorsteps, there might be a problem with the robotic vacuum's return cycle (the appliance might get stuck).
Before crossing a threshold or climbing over any
obstacle, the robot will stop and check:
- the heights (A & B) on both sides of the threshold/obstacle
- that the area on the other side is clear to operate (C)

Cleaning of a house with more than one floor can be facilitated by using an extra charging base on each floor.
