Dispensed Water has an odd taste and/or odour.

Issue

Water from the water dispenser has an odd taste and/or odour.

Applies to

  • Refrigeration French Door
  • Refrigeration Quad Door
  • Refrigeration Vertical
  • Refrigeration Side by Side
  • All ice and water models

Solution

Understanding fridge water

  • water is held in a tank and has passed through a filter, pipes & valves, so the taste will be different to direct tap water
  • all components in an Electrolux fridge are water quality graded and tested and approved for use

Potential cause

  • Water has not been dispensed for an extended period of time.
    • can taste stale
  • Unit not properly connected to cold water line.
    • -check where connection is off mains and not in line with other appliance that may be back flushing into water supply
  • If your refrigerator has not been used for a period of time (during moving for example), change the filter before reinstalling the refrigerator
    • filter is time based not use so a filter in line for 12 needs replacing even if it was not in use for any of that period

Common Solution

  • Draw and discard 10-12 glasses of water to freshen the supply.
  • Ensure it is connected to the cold-water line that supplies water to the kitchen faucet.
  • Change the water filter. at the recommended times
  • When ordering your replacement filter, only use recommended or approved filters and record on the filter the date it was installed
  • to test water place a bottle of water in the fridge from the same water source after a few days try that water and see if it tastes the same water will taste different after it has been still for a period of time

To ensure optimal filtering of refrigerator odours, you should change the air filter six months (The filter status light on the Touch Panel prompts you to replace the filter after six months).

Replacement filters and accessories can be ordered from the Electrolux webshop
