Tumble Dryer noisy drum / knocking noise during drum rotation

Issue

  • The Tumble Dryer generates knocking/ scraping or rubbing noise while the drum is rotating

Applies to

  • Heat Pump Dryer

Solution

In some cases, this is caused by drum not unlocking automatically.

The rear drum locks are designed to move to unlock position when the dryer is activated for the first time. It is possible to hear some noise at the start of the first drum rotation.

If a dryer continues to make a knocking noise after it has been running for a while this may be due to the drum locks not unlocking automatically.

1. Go to the back of the dryer, locate the two rear drum locks - white plastic screw heads (hexagon socket) with indicators on them.

2. Find the “open padlock” pictogram located close to each of the drum locks.

3. Rotate the drum lock to have the indicator near the “open padlock” pictogram.

You can rotate the drum locks with a hex key (Allen key) size 12mm or use any other equipment you have at home that makes the screw heads (hexagon socket) possible to rotate.
